Did you clean the carb before you fitted it?

Which carb is it? Webber or VV?

If its the webber its unusual..

If the VV then its probably the choke sticking, mine used to do it every now and then, I would just jump out and give the choke unit a tap with the handle of a srewdriver.........eventually I took the choke out altogether and have been running without one for two years, I keep meaning to get round to getting a twin Webber and manifold....one day!

The best way to tell if its the carb is to hold the choke open manually and see if it ticks over any better then.

If not then have you changed the dizzy cap n rotor? is the ingintion module playing up? has the coil got any visible damage?

Check the connection on the dist and ignition modual on the inner wing for rust or water it may be the modual on the way out but i dout it.
Does the servo hold it's vacume when the engine is off? could be a split diaphram inside the servo.

If you increase the idle speed it would probably maintain enough revs to keep it going - doesn't get to the root of the problem but can cure it.

cutting out

re the cutting out problem
still there but not so frequent
does anyone know how the pcv valve works as it is in the engine breather pipe that goes from the engine crankcase into the manifold
surely if this is faulty it would be like having a leak in the intake ie rough idling and cutting out
any suggestions?
cheers george
