Lowering

in that photo both those vans are really really low!

i can see the front not being too hard with some custom coilsprings

but whats available for the rear? and for the dampers?

ive heard of lowering blocks for the back of mk2 escorts which might work on the back, but then i'd still need to find uprated dampers all round....

any ideas please

we've had a few discussions about this on here have a look in customising and one off section!

the problem with lowering blocks as mk1/2 escorts is the transit axle is mounted under the leafsprings and a block will raise it rather than lowering!

ive searched the forum for threads with "lowering" or "suspension" and found very little

if the axle is mounted under the springs on a transit what is stopping me moving the axle above the springs? that alone would probably lower it a good bit?

and i found nothing at all on uprated dampers or sourcing custom coil springs?

any help or links to threads would b appreciated

nothing i suppose other than it would lower it about 3"-4"
it would also mabe need the prop centre bearing moving up a bit!! :?
if you measure it all and thats the right drop you want then it would be an interesting job!! :D

the problem with swapping the axle to the top of the springs is it will require you to relocate the spring seats on the axle ... lot of work, and NOT for the novice welder

:? obviously not to many speed bumps up your way then :P

it is one way to get a fully "live" rear axle though
i can just see the garage mechanic looking at the underside of your van after you report a "balljoint knocking type sound" coming from the back end :? :?
