Power Steering on a Pinto Engine

Postby Kevin Hawkins » Wed Dec 28, 2005 9:06 pm

hi
We are trying to fit power stearing but are having one or two problems. We have managed to fit the alternator, complete with double pulleys and fit the water pump complete with double pulleys but we have come to fit the power steering unit the pulleys are out of line ie. too far forward. Are there supposed to be spacers fitted between the pump and bracket to take the punp farther back?

Next problem. We are having trouble getting the single pulley off the crankshaft to fit double pulleys. Is this a left hand thread? Has anyone managed to get this off and if so how did they do it?

All the parts, which we have purchased from a scrap yard, have come off a Granada.

Kind Regards
Kath & Kevin Hawkins

No spacers behind the pullys, once the bolt is undone on the bottom pully (normal thread) you may need a puller on it they can be bstds :(
The alternator is fitted to the P/S pump bracket so not sure how that is fitted but not the P/S pump? they are all in one unit that bolts to the side of the block after removing the old alt mount.
should look like this
