alternator question

My alternator wasn't charging so I just took it off and noticed that one of the spade connectors was bent (thew one that goes to the blue wire) and not going into the conector would this be the problem?

was it not charging or just the light coming on making it look like its not charging?

If the light is ON, on the old transits, the alternator is NOT charging.

The blue wire is the battery light wire, and yes it does need to be on the terminal for the alternator to perform correctly.

no light at all coz the garage that converted it from petrol to diesel didn't seem to have a clue, they even let me drive off with the brake vacum pump not working, which scared the hell out of me.

i'll find out in the morning if it works as the battery is on charge now

yay it all works now, well nearly, just have no idea how much fuel is in. haynes manual says i have to take the petrol tank off to get the sender out

In the short term, do you have a trip meter? If you do, fill the tank and reset it, you can at least guess how much fuel is left then by how many niles you have done!

Before you strip the tank out make sure the connection block just below the bulkhead attatched to the chassis.
