The aluminium steering lock housing was held onto the steel shaft surround by a pinch bolt, but as a security measure the bolt was designed to shear off when tightened.

If you look at the top of the housing you'll see a raised section with a kind of slope on it. to remove the housing you'll need to either drill the remaining bit of the bolt out or cut it off.

Did you turn the key in the barrel before pressing the release pin?

:D hi Fingers ,disconect the battery for safety, undo 10mm bolt or t40 star bolt on column in engine bay, undo 4 13mm bolts holding colomn to bulkhead in engine bay ,recover plate...........undo 2 13mm bolts holding colomn under dash easy to get to ,remove column by pulling out van from in cab........... :D look at top of casting i sent you you will see a 13mm threaded stud with a slit sawn in it...............you need to do this sawing to yours and remove screw turn .........then you need to turn your castings guts to no1 to release steering lock pin, .simply saw head off your old barrel pull guts out with pliers, turn barrel to no 1 and slide old casting of column ,slide on replacement and tighten down the threaded screw.should you have nackered up your exsisting colomn pm me as i do have one in the old shed somewhere .........refit column and bobs your uncle........... (why disconect battery.just incase steering knuckle arm flops on to starter motor ) :D :D :D
