f*****g cam belts

hi al oh what fun ive had today
cam belt went ping when i started to crank the engine its bent 2 pushrods

the big question is will the valves be ok as they are still sitting flat in the head and are the same height as the others to within a few thou so i dont think they have bent at all
will get 2 rods from the scrappy in the morning but wonder if i should pull a head and snaffel 2 valves as well

Yup, they should be ok, have done many a transit cam belt.

Time her up, fit new pushrods, set the tappits, turn key!

Your other reply is probably right but i'd snaffle all the pushrods & valves JUST in case! It'd be a pain if you had to go back.

Valves will be fine, check all the rods for distortion on a flat surface though as some will bend very very slightly.

Also make sure there are no tight rockers when you remove the rocker shaft and be sure to examine the rockers and pedestals for cracks.

been through the rods on a glass plate just 2 bent , thankfully i have not got this engine to start yet so it was only on the starter my mate was watching the engine and said it looked to kick backwards a bit as it went so i think im getting close to a start up anyway
at least i will know the timing is ok when im finnished

I managed to crack 2 pistons snap 2 rocker posts and bend 4 rods, and it was only idling when the belt went

I actually wonder if that's the worst time it can go! Ours went on the A2 going to Dover once, only did 3 pushrods. Got off light.
