Mk2 Axle Ratio's

Postby 24vMk2 » Mon Feb 06, 2006 11:22 pm

I was looking at past posts about Diff ratio's when I came across this:

i have gone from 5.83 to 4.63 (lowest number you can get in the twin wheel axle) and now doesnt like hills but seems to get upto 55mph on the flat!

by madmark.

When I was working on my 'bus, I checked the tag, its saying its a 4:1 :?
(Its a 2.0 pinto with a O/D 'box, it does have a SVO plate on the door pillar)

Any ideas?

if it's an SVO, I wonder what gearing the gearbox has?

 are you shure its not saying 5.14 ?????? sorry mate but if she is twin wheeler they never made 4.11 , 4.63 then 5.14 then 5.83. 6.14

the 4.11 was only fitted to single wheel diffs!
also if you did have a 4.11 and overdrive in a twin wheeler with a pinto you would never get out of 3rd gear!

also if it was svo fred it would not be any higher than 4.63 this was fitted to all v6 powerd transits unless orderd with a 5.14! :D

It could will be that, the tag is fairly rusty,

I'm not that worried, its being changed for a new gen single axle soon, so I can fit my alloys to it.

Cheers for the help :)

Mine wheel ain't as wide as I thought they where, only got 8" rears :P

I know that the new gen axle is wider that the Mk3's, teamed with adapter plates (doing that way because I'm short on time!) I'm hoping they should sit quite nice in the arches, btw, its got 275/60/15 tyres! :P
