Hi -I've just done an oil change on my 94 mk5 and now sometimes when I rev it a light just under the temp gauge comes on -it looks like a jerry can with wavey lines in the bottom half-anyone know what this is please?.

Water in fuel filter

caused by either water in the filter which needs draining off, or a fault in the wiring is shorting out when the engine moves.

drain it and see how it goes.. 8)

I tried to drain it but it was clear, now today i dicover it was a wiring fault whereby the previous owner had wrapped all three ends of the wires together creating a short thus allowing the light to be illuminated all the time....I suggest you do what i did today, start at the sensor plug at the bottom of the fuel filter and have a good check of all the wires there may be some touching somewhere...

Good luck, let us know how you get on

cheers
