Hesitation ?

Postby mr jimbo » Fri Mar 10, 2006 7:03 pm

Hello everyone, I'm new to here and to Diesels :?
I have a slight problem with a 1989 2.5 Di in a Mk3 Trannie with a recovery bed on it. I have a slight hesitation when driving in traffic at part throttle, usually at between 1/3 and 1/2 throttle. The timing belt has been changed and the timing set as per the Ford manual and had new Air and Diesel filters at the same time, have cracked open all the Injectors one at a time to make sure there was no air traped in system and all seems fine. The hesitation isn't noticeable when accelerating only when on part throttle. Can somebody point me in the direction of a cure please.

Also does anybody know the part no's/finis code for the engine mounting rubbers as my local Fraud dealers can't access vehicle info on anything before 1990 on thier system and the main Fraud dealer is in Kidlington and i'm in Didcot, 22 miles away.

Thanks in anticipation, Jimmy

Welcome mr jimbo. Silly question, but could the throttle cable be sticking? Always go for the simplest thing first

The mounts should be the same as a 1990 van

I've checked that too and it's a new one with no kinks or sharp bends. One thing that has crossed my mind is that one of the previous owners has had a tinker with the pump for some reason and not got it quite right ? All the obvious things seem to be OK.

The local Fraud dealer isn't very helpful really as the person on the Parts counter is unwilling to look for part no's unless you give a Registration no/Chassis no for a 1990 vehicle onwards and as mine is 1989 it won't recognise it on thier system
