Glow Plugs.

Postby Lee J » Fri Mar 17, 2006 3:33 pm

New transit 2.4TDi, how would I know when I had a glow plug down?

At the moment on really cold mornings it struggles to start, but then it's fine all day. I also have the glow plug light flashing at me while it's running, could this be linked?

Check to see if you have power at the glow plugs first, and you already no the glow plug light comes on when the ECU finds a fault.

Hi m8

The ECU can't tell you if an individual glow plug has gone down, you'll need to carry out a resistance check on the glow plug rail and see what resistance you have.

The module is flashing the glow plug light because it's found a fault on the engine management system, no just the glow plugs

get it connected to a code reader and see which system has the concern.

attached to a code reader i get the code P0650, this refers to the Malfunction Ilumination Lamp (MIL), but wtf that is is anyones guess.
