reverse sensor

Postby DUP » Fri Mar 17, 2006 3:44 pm

HI CAN ANYONE HELP. I HAVE BOUGHT A 02 EX MET POLICE SEMI HIGH ROOF TRANNY.
MY TROUBLE IS WITH THE REVERSING SENSORS (NOT WORKING) A VERY ODD TIME WHEN I ENGAGE REVERSE IT WILL GIVE A LITTLE BEEP. (IF SOMETHING IS WITH IN ITS RANGE) HAD IT TO A LOCAL AUTO SPARK AND HE THINKS IT IS SOMETHING OTHER THAN THE SENSORS AS HE THINKS THE FOUR WOULD NOT ALL GO AT THE SAME TIME... HE DID HAVE A LOOK ON THE NET FOR A WIREING DIAGRAM BUT HAD NO LUCK..... I WENT TO FORD GARAGE AND THEY DID TRY AND HELP BUT THE GUY SAID THAT THERE WERE SO MANY NUMBERS FOR HIM TO CLICK ON AND HE THEN HAD TO DOWN LOAD THE INFO ... AND THE BOSS MIGHT CATCH HIM... SO CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT AND THE AUTO SPARK....... YES THE SPARK COULD GO AT IT WITH HIS BITS BUT IT WOULD BE A ££££££££££££ THING MAYBE...THANKS REGARDS GREG

Just wanted to say welcome to the Forum DUP. Can't help you with the electrics thing as it's the one thing I am no good at. I am sure somebody here can though!

Also, maybe if you put the question in Technical it might get more attention.

Hi m8

the parking aid system is actually quite basic, regardless of what people are telling you.

what you need to do is look at the parking aid switch, does the light come on to say that the system is OFF when you engage reverse?

If one sensor is diagnosed as faulty when the system does it's little check the system will turn off.

A Ford dealer can connect WDS to the vehicle and quickly read off the fault codes from the PAM, if it's a sensor at fault there will be a code stating exactly which sensor it is.

Are all the sensors pushed into the bumper correctly?
If one is a little bit dislodged it can get a spurious reading and it'll turn off the system.

hope some of that helps you
