When changing the fuel filter have some diesel to fill up the filter.warm the engine to hot. have a vehicle and jump leads avaiilable.
Fill the filter and wind till it goes.mk6's can be twits.

I do 2 or 3 a week.
Just fill them with Diesel and fit, start engine and get the revs up immeadiately for 15/20 seconds.
Can't say i've ever had any trouble, all run fine from the off.

Just to add to the guys that fill the filter, it is not a quick job, fill it, let the level go down then gradually keep topping up the filter until it will not take anymore, allow around 5 minutes for this. Then simply fit the filter, start up and away. If it is not quite full, then it may start, but because of low fuel pressure you may get white smoke out the exhaust for a few minutes. DO NOT DRIVE IT UNTIL YOU HAVE FULL PRESSURE !!!

do i also need to fill in the main fuel line that comes in from the front right or does the hp pump create its own suction via the filled up filter then?
someone also suggested to plug up the rear left line on the filter side with a wiener, but what line is that and what would this help to fix?

That’s all I do if you tap the side of the filler you can see air bubbles come to the top it makes it a bit quicker

Never ever removed the pipe just fill the filter as described and start it with some ribs on
