Front Wing replacement

Postby Powertone » Thu Mar 23, 2006 5:52 pm

Hi,

I am thinking of repalcing both front wings on my 1995 smiley transit 2.5di.

How hard a job is this, what does it entail? Are they bolted or welded? If welded how do I get them off?

Is it a job for a garage or can it be done diy?

Thanks

They are welded and the easiest way to remove them is with a spot weld drill. It depends how competent you are as to weather you do them yourself.

How bad are they? As wings are not structural it's def a case for filler! I have seen Mk2 wings held on with self tappers!

Their not really that bad. I suppose they could be filled but I expect it would eat through again pretty sharpish.

 filler wont last a few days! it depends if you are keeping the van, the only way to get rid of rust is to cut it out! :)
