Wouldn't all the axle information be easier read on a spreadsheet?

crown wheel and pinions from 3.08 ratio

as for the mk4 one you have there, if it came from a chassis cab (single or twin wheel it makes no difference) then things arent the same, one of those things is that the shocks are sometimes mounted backwards like you said, but as 100ps says not always, i have actually seen a chassis cab with the mountings for both orientations on the vehicle :?

.... Friday after throw together vehicle anyone :P  .... you can almost picture one rolling of the production line at 5 to 5 on a friday night, one shock mounted one way and the other side mounted the opposite way !!

like all the capri axles with one damper in front of the axle and one behind :D

Is it possible to change the Mk3 6-stud single 14 inch wheel axle to a (maybe) 190 twin-wheel axle with 6-studs and 15 inch rims?

Sorry for hijacking thread, but i need some info.
Not exactly transit(half of it), but i asume you can help me.
What ratios can be fited in what i belive is mk3-5 axle? I need something long, for sierra p100, what can i put in?
And another question what is the longest ratio for dual wheel axle?
I've read that some transit axles are dana(44 or60) related, can ring an pinion from this axles be fitted into transit?

make sure you use the mk or the year so we know what were talking about!! look here to find which mk is which!!!! :D and also state if its SWB or LWB single or twin your talking about!!!! :D

so basically post any info you have on rear axles here

well i have got hold of a couple of axles, mk8 transit and a 2000 ford f150 SVT, both ford 9.75 axles, the f150 is factory lsd with 3.55 ratio, but i have got a 3.08 ratio on its way from america, mk8 axle is 73.5 wheel mount face to mount face although that was curved over the diff, so probably 73", maybe a little wide for my mk6, but where there is a will, there is a way, spring perch center to center is 49", pinion center to wheel mount is about 36.5 give or take a few mm

Bj928, how have you got on so far?
I'm in need of an lsd on my bmw powered mk6, also wanting a 3.08 ratio, ideally I'd like even lower than 3.08 but looks as though that's as far as it goes
Will PM you too

depending on stud pattern for go down to 2.73 on the 8.8 axle, new mustang should be wide enough, but would give u a 5x114.3 stud pattern, f150 might work, but wouldn't put the nose of the diff in the right place, would be off to one side, 8.8 is also in ford explorer, but to narrow unless u want very wide tyres, and i think u would need to move the springs in for that as well, 3.08 is lowest i have found for the 9.75 in the mk8 transit, thats what i have on its way from the states, with my tyre size that will give me 70mph at 1700 rpm with my 10 speed, i think if u got old school 9" ford axle you can go down to a 2.46 ish, but don't know how readily available that ratio is

Ok, I'd keep stock stud pattern, makes things easier,
When are you hoping it to land?
I've had a look through various online sites from the states & could find several 3.73 but no 3.08's
What sort of money are we talking for one landed?
Or failing that lsd would be nice but the ratio is more important for me at the mo, do you know if the mk7 diff is the same cwp figment as the 9.75 mk8?
If so ordering a 3.08 cwp would be the easier step
Cheers

i found an f150 9.75 axle in the uk with lsd for £50, with a 3.55 ratio, i have a 3.08 turning up next week for mine, but not sure i'm going to have time to fit it before i head off to work again in the states, so it might be up for grabs and i'll find another, the mk7 axle i believe is different, its said to be a dana axle, but i'm not sure on that one, and i don't have access to one to see and take pics to compare with an american axle diff, the 3.08 is the tallest one i could find to fit the 9.75,
