anyone had any experience with 2.0 injection pinto engines??? ive just been offerd a compleate running sierra with an injected pinto engine.

Its about the best Pinto there was, very reliable and pretty quick too!

I havnt seen one in a Transit before so not sure about the dimensions, it would mean a fair bit of work but as you have the whole car theres no reason why you shouldnt succeed.

Just remember you need everything including the wiring loom and ECU etc if you take it on.

probably the easyest engine swap (apart from another carbed engine you can do)
alrady done 2 and another on the way BUT you need a granada loom as the engine/ECU loom is a seperate loom that just plugs into the cars main loom and contains all the relays and fuse you need to run it, on the sierra the loom is intergrated and the relays are in the main fuse box.
I do however have a spare granny loom you could copy but it's not for sale unfortunaty

the hardest bit will be getting a swirl pot fitted but theres a chap in Essex Steve Taylor who cuts the tanks open and fits em in for ya but he'll need a tank to do it on if it's a Mk2, Mk3 you'll need to get hold of a tank from a 8V twincam transit (possably a diesel one will have a swirl pot?).
Engine goes straight in need a hole in the bulk head for the loom to pass through, then theres 3 earths 1 live to the battery and 2 wires in the van to connect.

fair enough im sitting on the fence on this one having just removed a Di from my mk1 and fitted a pinto, and just removed a pinto and fitted a di in my mk4 seems i cant make my mind up

I think I know what rover means about noise. My '96 70ps bosch was really quiet inside My 2000 85ps Lucas is really noisey Did Ford not bother sound proofing some vans Now there's a new thread

thats strange as the 85ps should be ok ,as the turbo were quite inside ! the normal seem very noisey!

pity it wasnt a granada - i did my mk1 escort using a sierra loom then was told a granada has the sepertae loom - if you can get hold of a granny loom it will make the job loads easier!!!



but when you have done it, it will be a top conversion - if i was running a pinto that would be the one i'd go for!!!

my loom has seen better days so im thinking of using as much of the sierra loom as possible yes it was runing a pinto but in the las few weeks the valve stem seals gave up and the cam started rattling rather than do a head job thaught it was time to give the old mk2 a bit more power , have driven the car it runs fine with pleanty of power
