Stuck in europe...........Urgent help required!

Postby boysontour » Mon Apr 10, 2006 7:00 pm

Hello guys,

Stuck in france at the moment, got a problem with the transit and are 1 day into a european tour with the band and the van has began making horrible knocking noises.

Its a 1.8 long wheel base turbo diesel.

The van still drives, however we have to make a journey tomorrow from Le havre to Lyon which is approximately 6 hours.

The problem is when you lift off the throttle, when the engine decelerates without the throttle, a loud knocking noise occurs from what appears to be the front of the van.

any ideas, depsperate times

Thankyou

1.8 refers to the load it'll carry

The engine will be a 2.4 8)

If the engine is making a noise, get it into a garage before it goes bang

It could be a timing chain issue, and when that decides to give up it takes the head with it!

A sneaky bit of advice for you. Book some RAC cover online with a credit card. If you can't/don't want to use your own card, get somebody at home to do it. Wait a decent amount of time (24 hours, or not, if it's an emergency) and call them. DO NOT tell them you were already away when you took out the cover, or it won't be valid. Good luck!
