diesel injector query

Postby gordie » Tue Apr 18, 2006 5:06 pm

is there meant to be a plug or a cap or a pipe conected to the first injector (closest to fan)

my van has just been returned to me from being assed by the insurance and its pissing diesel out
let's face it, if I didn't exist you'd pay someone to invent me

It could be the fuel return but this could also come off the back injector. If the pipe is on the back the a cap should be on the front or visa versa.

So you need a rubber cap on the front one then!

If its missing then try to get one from Ford, the aftermarket ones are usually too thin and will split sooner or later.

Return pipe should be on the front injector[nearest to fan].cap should be on the back injector.A few years back that was a directive from Ford to stop air betting trapped at the fuels highest point. If your return pipe is long enough cut 30mm off and stick a big self tapper or bolt in it an use as a blanker

That was a directive from Fords but all of my vans have had the pipe coming from the back injector and have never had a problem.
