mis reading speed clock

Postby Jim H » Sun Apr 23, 2006 5:35 pm

Help, got a Mk5 chassis cab with a 4.63:1 diff. The problem is at an indicated 30mph it's realy doing 37mph so the speedo drive pinion is the wrong one. does anyone have a list of pinion teeth or colour to axle ratio so i can fit the right one and not get done for speeding please?

Cheers

Jim

It turns out that for a 4:63to1 salisbury axle you need a 21 tooth speedo drive. Found this out by having a guess, then going back to the dealer, speaking to a very helpful parts dept man. I can only believe the first bloke i spoke to was a Muppet!

I am having troubles with mine too (only from a three hour drive last night). Not sure if it it is too fast / too slow but it also picks and chooses when it wants to work. I have a tachograph fitted in mine which I'm not sure is standard or not / affects how a normal speedo would work. I will be taking a look at it tomorrow and will pass any info i gain on. Cheers
