leaf springs

Postby pippadee » Sat May 06, 2006 2:31 pm

The camper has become awful to travel in. On inspection it seems the leaf springs have given up. Any suggestions for replacing them and the shocks all round. Thanks Pip

A where and any suggestions on modern ones that may fit as obviously easier to get hold of than mk1's.

are we talking front or rear ? here

if rear, also what sort have you got ? ... rear saddle with bush or the other slide sort ?

also it might help to replace the shocks all round while your at it :)

Its the front ones that we need to do as the v6 has knackered them. They are single leaf and the shocks all round if possible.

ones from a lwb mk3 86-91 will fit :!: i have them on my mk1

i dont know but i presume the Di ones are rated higher to cope with the extra weight of the Di - which is heavier than the V6 i believe!!

fronts hhmmmm .... yeah the V6 will do that !!

i think the fronts are interchangeable with the mk2 ones, maybe look to some late mk2 ones preferably from an early fit of the DI or other diesel engined van

someone with a mk1 should be able to give you some more accurate advice, most of the threads and discussion here has been regarding the rear springs and which can be swapped for which

oh crap .... lol

then i recommend mk3 ones as they are easier to find :P and as Mark said the Di is heavier or similar weight to the V6

shocks should be easy to find either in motor factors or ebay

Found a company on the web, jones springs. They are waiting for steel so won't have any for a couple of weeks but can do them £45+vat each and delivery. Having found them Chris knows where there is a mk3 di breaking.

any place that does leaf springs can fix your old springs if they are sagging by reheating them they can also add an extra spring to stiffen your old ones
