yes apalrently all transits up to 2000 without cat converters
will be fined ( 1500 pounds ) if u dont pay it & your caught
a second time your van is taken away & scraped or u have
a cat converter fitted at 2000 pounds
or u convert it to petol

a few people i now r all ready converting to petol

all because of this scrappage system with the new cars & vans
& it comes in to law on the 15 january

 So you can't provide any evidence then. It's just if what you said above is true then there would some sort of info about it somewhere, not just a bit hear say.

The only think I can think of is the new zone in London.

http://www.truckuk.net/publications.asp is one thing I have found out about it - basically saying vans and lorries that don't pass extra tests will simply not be allowed in. I know we have to use Euro5 lorries now for deliveries into the capital, so maybe this is what the OP meant?
Some people say I am stupid... I never realised I was that clever.

are you trying to say that all vans that are older than a 2000 will need a cat fitting to them????

they cant and wouldnt do that,,,, i wonder how many pre 2000 transits there are, and how they rekon someone with a mark 1 would want / be able to fit a cat to one.

what a load of rubbish....

it may be a new rule for the capital,,,, but then that would be due to the congestion charge as already stated not a general law for all vehicles surely?

From the sound of what you said, it's to do with the London Emission Zone (LEZ) where all pre 2002 diesel vans under 3500 kg will need a particulate filter fitted to comply with the new zone. I think the price quoted was around £2k.
It's not happening in January though
