hateful Transit fan belt

A few weeks ago i posted about my squeaking fan belt.The saga continues.
I have now changed the belt (again) a ford item. The top idler bearing and the tensioner unit. There isnt any slack in any of the other components or any sign of excess wear on the pulleys and yet it still squeaks. aaarg.
If i slacken the tensioner (using peg hole) a hair with engine running (yeah, i know) the squeak goes away so it seems to me the belt is too tight. Noise is defo from flat side of belt as a touch of flour on it causes noise to go for a second or two. Nothing else has been touched.

Findings today are, If i move the tensioner a bit further with engine running the belt moves over the pulley by about 6mm indicating something is out of line also top of the new (ford) belt is very shiney. So i removed the tensioner pulley and found the bearing not seated correctly, i fiited a new bearing to the original ford pulley and refitted and the squeak is still there but belt is now running at the very front edge of the pulley. Bloody imitation parts im off to Ford now for the oe bit. If it cures it noise its been an expensive lesson. The thing is the squeak was there with a ford tensioner.

Good way to wreck a new belt.

just a little squirt needed, i'm sure it would dry up and not cause a problem if any did get on the belt:?:

I thought it was just another comment like the filling oil through the dipstick hole.

OK, now the latest and final chapter.Closer inspection found the tensioner forcing the belt out of line, dont know how i missed it before tbh. Went off to Ford and £120 lighter got a OE tensioner. I compared and measured both tensioners and can see little difference. Fitted OE and squeak has gone and belt is running in line. But we`ll see what happens when paint has worn off the new pulley.
The other thing i did notice is the ford OE part doesnt make belt as tight a the pattern part did.

i used the ford tensioner with a new bearing, i machined it down in the lathe to the right size and it seems to work fine, cos me about 16 - 20 euro cant remember exactly
