2 quick questions

Well i am the proud owner of a 1993 (L) ford transit ex plumbers van i am the 3rd owner but dont know which model it is i have a couple of questions to ask

the first is
when i am starting of it feels like it is going to cut out and then gerks it sounds as if it reving quick but as soon as i am moving all is fine any ideas what this could be

the second
at the moment it has a black grill straight looking bars and its a bit loose i am going to find a replacement and was wondering if the smily grill would fit instead

the smiley grill will fit with small modifications the ends clip in rather than screw in like yours and the 2 bars that hold it are slightly different

but the biggest problem is you will then have 2 badges your is on the bonnet and the smiley grill will have one too!!

The easy way round that is to get rid of the black bit in the middle of the smiley grille and fit mesh, looks better as well.

I've been thinking about the mesh idea, what's putting me off is the radiator protection factor -
Fair enough the standard plastic louvres have gaps but they are angled, I'm worried about airborn grit flying straight in to the radiator and causing damage, the angled louvres might be deflecting this by design (?).

Then I thought 2 layers of mesh, but would this restrict airflow and cooling...

Just get a nice fine mesh.

hasnt affected mine yet or me dads anyway s/h rads at scrappys is only £10 saying that i still aint payed for the last one
