PAS tensioner

Postby Aly Johnson » Sun Jan 03, 2010 10:52 pm

Hi Guys,

Ive recently bought a 2LT diesel 53 plate swb transit which untill when i started it this morning runs very well.

When i did start it a noticed a squeek and a burny smell, so when i had a look under the bonnet the PAS/Water pump belt was burning against a siezed tensioner pulley!!

My questions are, is this common as it happened overnight, it was running perfectly the night before??
Is this job a bugger to do, ie anything that is prone to breaking while i dismantle the damaged parts??
And where should i buy the parts from and what would i expect to pay (are non genuine parts as good)

I have got some mehanical skills and common sence lol, so is this a job for DIY??

Thanks for all your help in advance, Aly Johnson.

Just been there.Nothing too difficult you can easily fit new bearings to tensioner pulleys.but if you need a new belt or other bits Ford is the way to go.
