done egr and pump mod but when i pulled hose off to look at butterfly found oil in hose and over butterfly, is this normal?

You don't say which mark of Transit you have.

Oil vapour is fed into the inlet manifold from the crankcase so as to be burned. On my MK5 there was oil on both the butterfly and in the hose to the air cleaner, the quantity will depend on how much blow-by past the piston rings you have. I wouild say that some was quite normal.

thanks for the reply spospe, i have an r reg transit crew cab tipper, she's done 170,000 so bit worn, by what your saying about the rings that would explain with the mileage the poss reason for the oil going through, just didnt want the engine blowing on me yet, looking at changing the engine in future, thanks again mate
