Camper Van Problems

Postby pasquinade » Sun May 14, 2006 12:18 pm

Hello ,
I'm having a problem with lights on a F Reg 1988 Ford Transit 100 Camper and was looking for some info.
Basically as I was driving the lights suddenly went out, but the motor was still running! I puuled over to check and then they came back on again! Also the battery is not holding charge.
Is this an alternator problem or something else?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

Your battery might be on its way out, or there may be a bad contact somewhere thats causing a short circuit.

Welcome BTW! Is the engine petrol or diesel? If it's deisel, it will run on very little battery power. Did anything else go off, like the radio? Did you have the charging light on the dash before this?

Hi, Thanks for the response, ok firstly the engine is petrol, and secondly when the lights went out they included the dash lights and the radio, there was no charging light on the dash prior to the problem occouring.
Any other advice?
Thanks.
