Front axle mot failure.

Postby locost1 » Mon Jan 11, 2010 7:03 pm

Hi my mk3 luton 2.5 jst failed on the king pin bearing.

Now to replace them do i need to remove the front axle completley? is it cheaper just to get a whole new axle.?

I have basic mechnical skils so can take it off in my drive if needed.

Thankyou AGAIN for all your help.

If it's the same as the old LDV Convoys (which I think used the MK3 axle), you shouldn't need to drop the axle.

You can replace the king pin assy without removing the axle IF you are lucky and can get the cotter pins out and then drive the king pins out as well. I tend to find it easier to remove the beam and use a press to remove the very stubborn cotters and king pins
