Slow 190

Postby 2Smoke » Tue May 16, 2006 3:57 pm

Ok, I'm sure this has been done to death but my new van is horrendously slow and heavy on fuel. Its a 190 on a P plate 25.di with the bosch pump.

I have done the pump tweak and egr mod and its still pretty slow, struggles to top 70 and takes and age to get to 60.

There is no major slack in the throttle cable.

It also seems a lot worse on fuel than my old 120 pre-di but this could be connected to the fact that you have to keep the throttle pinned everywhere.

After doing the tweak and egr mod it went better, but still not as good as I would like it to be.

Its also a bugger to start in the mornings, got new fuel and air filters.

Any ideas anyone? I have read through a few related posts to no avail!

Thanks!
Paul

are the brakes dragging??  nice easy one to check
You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

top arrow should have a threaded bit which gets pushed by the bottom arrow bit when the engine is cold to give it a bit more throttle when at idle when cold..dont make any diffrence to the normal running at all..u may just find the van is a bit slow at idle when cold..

Have a look at this thread - I had a similar problem with mine a few weeks back and I'd bet it will be similar with yours mate!?! The mod has to be done by a diesel injection specialist though. Hope it helps anyway!! :)
