dont no wether you have this right tdci dont need coding, if its a tddi yes they need coding , the followig applies to tdci remove battery earth ,on tdci thare is no timing marks for the pump as its a high pressure pump (not like tddi there timed),but the chain cant be allowed to move as it affects igniton and valve timing, the right tool as mobilevan man says, has the right bits of kit to take out pump with out the need to remove cover.no need to drain oil, but could be wise to do oil change after.if you dont have tool , you have to remove headlights(easy) front panel, 2-3 wing bolts (aids helps with front panel removal) drain rad and remove ,remove fan, remove belt and pulleys, remove coolant pipes, remove water pump(4 bolts,) theres a gasket between water pump and block.be careful of small water pipe top of cover as it damages quite easy on removal...when you take front cover off, after initial loosen of bolts use a electric drill with socket attached (god send with so many bolts)go round cover with stanley blade to loosen silicone, ford state use new cover, but you can reuse cover as long as you dont bend it to much on removal(cover £50) put some old rags in bottom by sump stops any thing dropping in sump, could be time to do chain and tentioner while your there if it hasnt been done for a while,or tentioner at least. on refitting replace crank seal in cover,(its a twist and lock type) use a decent quality silicone on cover , ford silicone is £15 very good thou, i use one from a motor factors 1/3 price.there,s probaly a couple of other wires, and things to remove, hard to picture not bein in front of van, remove inlet manifold
.. on refitting cover centralise crank seal first to avoid damage, ......if you have replaced a crank pulley bolt to turn engine over by hand dont forget to remove it before refitting cover as it will rip the seal.
is it tdci or tddi
pump is bolted to chain case (cover side) there a bracket at back of pump, outlet pipe to fuel rail, quick release pipe from fuel filter, and wiring.
