Have I knacked it then?( My 146 pump that is)

After having this injector pipe problem

and driving 130miles on three pots my Di turbo 85ps has now got a rocky tick over. It's fine other then that. As soon as the throttle is pressed it all goes smooth & there is no loss of power. I have slackened the injector unions one by one and proved the problem is on No 2 cylinder again. Also i've swopped no 2 & 3 injector to eliminate those. I've also changed the fuel filter, filling the new one up with injector cleaner to try to help things along. When the motor is cold it ticks over not bad but as it gets up to tempreture it gets worse. Question is have i knacked the pump or is it easily repairable?
If i have damaged it, what damage has it done & why?

So, even though you've swapped out the two injectors, the problem still persists on the same cylinder
Checked the tappets

Is the pipe fitted to no.2 injector clear

Then after a compression check, it will be pointing to the pump

How did the pipe break Jim ? did look like it had worn through from the inside ?

Right, just checked valve clearaces and the're fine, had no 2 pipe back off & squirted cleaner through onto clean rag no promblem. Started it & as I say when it's cold it ticks over on 4 cyliders fine so i can't see it being a compession promlem. Also this engines only done 30k from new. Hello Alan, don't know what happened to the origanal injector pipe other then when I ran it it sprayed fuel everywhere but when I took it off the engine I could'nt see anything wrong with it. It has gone off to our local jet engine makers to be analized. The replacment No 2 pot pipe came a completely differant shape so perhaps they where faulty & this is a mod. It seems to me that driving it with a brocken pipe has done something to the pump

PS, yes Andy the problem has stayed with no 2 pot.

Its possible that its a faulty fuel delivery valve for that injector, its an in line valve (thats the threaded brass coloured thing screwed into the pump that in turn the injector pipe union screws onto) that stops fuel bouncing back into the pump, this can also cause internal cavitation erosion on the high pressure pipe and injector (hence the broken pipe ?). swap the faulty one (it's well torqued down) and see if the fault changes to another pot. Maybe a long shot but could save you changing the pump.

Missing a cylinder out doesn't sound to be a pump internals problem to me but I could be wrong, try checking for swarf in the derv from the return pipe ?

Ok, if I can Swop This oneway valve tingy from one pump to another I'll have a go
Why would I have a valve problem or any other compression problem, I thought these engines where the dogs

dogs or not they still go wrong , your a bike mechanic i take it, even the best bike ever built goes wrong occasionaly (vfr750) you have something wrong with yours dont you? it was a suggestion thats all, why not a compression prob its only on one cylinder,

UP DATE,
Swoped injectors 2&3 with each other= fault still on No2 cylinder.
Swoped delivery vaves 2&3 with each other= fault still on No2 cylider.
comp tested engine today= it's absolutley fine, going to ignor it & hope it's goes away

have you an odd injector pipe, as some are diffrent internal diameter or lenth if you have mixed bosch with cav. am i right in saying you have put a manual pump on an epic, if so and you have turned the pump fueling up you will need 100ps injectors as 85ps will hold back on back pressure to pump. (ie, missing sometimes after reving) phone me 07951 097 828

forgot to say i got a brand new set of ford injector pipes in the bag hear. and you are only in notts, not far from me.

Well after all that I have had an injector pipe made up using the origanal as pattern. I have now a smooth tick over Thanks for every bodies help on this one. I must say a Big thanks to Henry Ford for supplying me with the wrong pipe in the first place.

So the pump was good in the end eh..Good result and you did get there in the end mate
