transit 190 single wheel or double?

Postby dazrecoverymad » Mon Feb 15, 2010 5:35 pm

ive seen a transit tipper with a maximum vehicle weight of 3500 kg /this is the same as mine although mine is a twin rear wheeler /what is the point of 4x wheels at the back if you can get a single wheeler as the single wheeler will cary more due to increased payload?confused /also is it a bad idea to fit only one wheel to each side of the rear axle ?is this possible?

in a word stability

You could fit a single wheel to each side of your axle, but I suspect you will go through wheel bearings rapidly because the load will be off center

I dont know - but I would guess if the load rating on the tyres are high enough you should be ok
