transit clutch cant get biting point

i have a transit 100 lwb 1999 2.5 td when i go to take away the van always shudders untill clutch if fully up also cant keep it on a hill with the biting point the clutch isnt slipping and gear change is smooth

is it normal for the engine to make a whistling noise when driving

any help will be great

Sounds like the clutch may be contaminated with oil, possibly from the crankshaft rear oil seal

Whistling noise if very mild, is normal, if not then possible loose/split turbo hose or fan belt slipping
Very difficult to say without hearing it

Mk 4/5 transits are very prone to clutch judder. Changing the clutch usually fixes it. Obviously check for weak mountings, oil contanimation etc., but usually a new clutch sorts it. That's why they put DMFs on mk6s!

Thought dual mass was an aid to performance?... and something new for manufactuers to rip yours eyes out with!

If your van is a mk5 have you checked the clutch ratchet mech?

Certainly is something to rip your eyes out with, but they do smooth out vibration until they go wrong, then it's your head that vibrates with the cost of replacing them!
