mk 5 down on power

Lads i have a swb mk 5. its a 70 ps di. its been parked up for nearly a year now but gets started and brought for a good hard run every few weeks, always started and ran great but of course now when i want to put it back on the road theres something wrong. its way down on power, wont rev up all the way, if you put your foot to the floor it revs maybe half way then hesitates and wont rev any more and theres an awful lot of blue smoke, and its harder to start than it should be. I checked all the obvious things, diesel filter is fine, all injectors are geting diesel, air filter is fine and its not mixing oil and water or anything like that. any sugestions would be great, the only thing i noticed was the pipe going to the egr valve seemed quite hot even before the engine got up to temperature, wasnt mad hot or anything just didnt know if its normal. anything else obvious i neede to check.????

u say that fuel is getting to injectors check if its dragging any air in from the fuel lines ..check all way down the fuel lines and make sure theres no leaks ..if not that maybe timing is out or blocked filters ...im not sure about transits but some vans and cars have an intank filter at the end of the fuel feed pipe...hope this helps

cheers for that. never thought of a bad fuel line, il check all that later on, hopefully its something like that and not the timing that slipped.
