2008 transit 2.2 110psi problem

Postby alanteal » Thu Apr 08, 2010 5:50 pm

from cold, on a slight uphill incline with the engine in first gear if the transit swb box van crawls under its own steam but the following happens: it goes forward, then the engine revs drop slightly, this is visable on the rev counter and noticable by ear, the van "dips" as if you had dipped the clutch, then the revs increase and it crawls forward again.no pedals are being touched. van 2 year old, 2.2 130psi diesel fsh ford, 21000k, just serviced by ford 100 mile ago. I have just bought it. Any ideas, garage is to reprogramme eprom chip with latest updates as there apparently have been updates on fuel issues with these.

More likely to be the anti-stall that was introduced in late 2008/early 2009, the hill launch assist works on the braking system, it just holds the brake pressure for a few seconds.

its a 110psi, no hill start assist, its when its moving on its own steam in 1st with no pedals being touched on a slight incline that it "dips" from a cold engine, if i do the same when the engine is hot the incline has to be alot more severe to recreate the problem. hope this clarifies things and any suggestions, presumably the anti stall has some bearing on this, if so will the resetting of the chip help. fuel & air filters appear ok.

IIRC it was part of a PCM update.

Had computer chip reset by ford, up to press all ok. seems quiter and smoother at low revs. they were very reluctant to do it until pushed, insisting that all ford transit vans drive like this !!! obviously not.
