transit 2.5 1997 model

i have just started to hear a rumbling noise, possibly from around the engine, or bottom part or further back.
engine ticks over and revs ok,
changes gear ok
its when driving along it appears
the clutch can be operated but the pedal is quite high( what height do they get to before problems?)

the main driveshaft bearing part with the rubber surround - should there be any play? as i can move the shaft about

If it's only when going along, is it when under load/over run/freewheeling :?:

And haven't you got an adjustment on your clutch pedal :?:
