WHICH ALARM SHOULD I BUY ????????

I know there are several posts on alarms already - have read them but could not get what I wanted


My problem is that even though my Mk6 is covered by 3 CCTV cameras, and has labels by the rear and loading door handles saying so and, its for domestic use and has no tools. Two teens keep coming back trying to lever open the rear doors. Luckily they are so stupid they are trying to prise open the n/s door using the o/s door as leverage. Which due to the laws of physics is never going to happen, but they are causing damage to the doors. With it being completely empty, I almost want to leave the van with the doors completely open one night just to show them what t___ts they are.

I really don't want that bloody great big lock on the rear doors, i just want to protect them with some form of alarm, so looking on Ebay I only found the Toad 850 alarm system that was listed as suitable for transit vans. Which will use my existing keys which is perfect. Plus I currently have the seller down to £65 from £80.

However I did phone a fitting company who said Toad were sh*t, but he would have to phone me back with the details of what I should be fitting - though he hasn't yet! I'm guessing he might just be pushing his own stock.

So does anyone have the perfect system on their Mk6 etc (USING EXISTING KEYS), preferably killing dead anyone who touches my boy without my written permission

With any decent alarm you fit (ie; not a cheap £20 eBay job), you can wire them into the C/L and ditch the Ford remote fob completely. The PATS immobiliser chip is in the key itself so you don't actually need the Ford remote for the van to work.

I personally wouldn't bother with alarms, so many go off for no reason that because of that when does anyone actually take any notice of them?

i had this fitted to my last van and it worked well made by autowatch and it uses you existing remote's

would be better to fit a alarm and immobilisor(clifford or something simlar)will work the CL and will have its own immobilisor circuit..you could get the locks removed and fit blanks(better security)

I'd fit a nice pair of 500W security lights that are triggered when there's movement near the van and if you do have a bulkhead and nothing in the back, then leave the back unlocked

You can also get floodlights which activate an internal chime to warn you they've been triggered

I'd recommend spending a little money and buy a Lazerline or Clifford. I have CAT1 Lazerline, Ive never had a false alarm, it has 2 immobilises, battery back-up, ultrasonics, along with the usual remote central locking and has various settings to suit you. At later date you can various add-ons, window closure, tilt, glass break, microwave and namur sensors etc You can even get remote garage IR passive sensors and door trips which will set the alarm off

I did like the dog system. As the van is ex police I was thinking of getting the wording "Dog Section" put on the back as "Bob" has the vents in the roof and tinted side windows so would look the part. Finished by off by wiring up the rear handle to a spare battery.

I did think of kipping in the van one night to have a chat with them, but considering I'm not at my best when I'm woken from sleeping, I wasn't sure that I would be able to stop having a "word" with them. Well thats going to be my legal defence anyway.

I do quite like the idea of lights with an internal audio signal. As alarms are a pain in the butt generally. My scooters "disc alarm clock" used to go off on its own for no reason, and did nothing when you kicked the s**t our of it, till I took out the batteries. And I have my neighbours alarm that is more sensitive than a lesbian (political term) with PMT, going off when a cloud passes.

I'm not sure about the alarm fobs being used instead of the vans, as my van does not work without chip, which recently cost me £150 by the lovely Ford Chaps to get a computer to program. It's amazing how much computers charge per hour - lol.

So guessing I'm looking for something to connect to handles to draw attention / scare the little angels.
