05 transit 135 350

Postby scottyr6 » Sun Apr 25, 2010 8:59 pm

Hi, I have an 05, 135 350 transit, the engine is the 2.4 duratorque, it has done about 107,000 miles, I've only had a couple of problems with it like the alternator and a hydraulic pipe for the power steering, but i've noticed around and in the recess the injectors sit in on top of the engine quite a bit of diesel lying around all the injectors, the excess fuel pipes are plastic and none of them seem to be securely fastened to the injectors!
Is this the probable cause for the diesel leakage, because the plastic hardens with age or is it something else? the engine runs as sweet as a nut as usual so can anyone advise me on what the problem is and how to cure it!
Thanks Peter :?:

sure its not water as water does collect around injectors leaks down from bonnet seal
if it is diesel.. take the leak off pipes off.. make sure the little seals are intact and ok ,the pipes clip on from round back of injectors, when replacing they can be quite hard to get back on,make sure you here the click or feel the click of the clip seating correctly

Cheers for that, it is diesel, so are the seals something you can buy seperately or do you have to buy the complete clip and pipes, one other thing, what is the other plastic plug under the leak off pipe with the wires attached to it?

i would imagine they come as a kit dont think there to expensive, wires are part of the electronic system,as yours is a tdci, not tddi ,injectors are controlled as part of the engine management system, when working on any part of fuel system always be ultra clean, any dirt or crap dont mix well with these systems, clean pipes of all dirt before taking off ,cover pipes when taking off etc,
if ever you have cause to take injectors out of a tdci make sure they go back into the same cylinders they came from,as they are programmed to the cylinders.(all part of management system) althou you wont be taking them out to check leak off pipes
tdci is a high pressure fuel system so be a bit careful when working with it,leak off pipes will be ok taking off , diesel wont be spraying all over the place
