Use the rad to match the engine, we always end up with a new rad, even if the old one is fine (usually I ask for it back!) :D

well i asked the guy on ebay about that one and it seems that he believes that at the end of the mk2 production run that they fitted the 2.5di engine instead of the 2.4 york diesel, leaving the original 2.4 rad in place and it worked fine.

thanks for your input on this guys, i think that i will go ahead and make some adapter plates for the mk3 rad, as i think it will bea easier and cheaper to change later should i need to :)

I had a Mk2 with the Di engine B reg it was, when i needed a new rad i got one from a 3.0 ambulance that i found dumped (back when scrap iron was £2 a ton) cos it also used a header tank as apossed to the pinto which didn't so had less inlets on the rad top (this is from memory 4 years back so don't quote me on it  ) but i know i used the 3.0 rad just can't remember if it was a straight fit or not

3ltr and di rads were the same with the header tank, the guy on ebay doesnt know much as di engines were fitted from B reg onwards in a mk2!,if you have a mk3 rad to go with the engine then use that one,the only thing is you may see through the grill of the mk2 as with the old type it filled more space! but mk3 rads are all good,i ran a v8 rover through a mk3 1.6 rad !
