wandering mk6

Postby mbev51 » Thu May 06, 2010 7:24 pm

hi
not sure if wandering is the right term. My swb 2002 seems to be a bit loose on the front it wanders a bit, its done about 90k what do you think has worn? Could it be the rear wishbone bushes. Steering joints are ok.

It just seems as if something is worn, not to one side rather than the other. I just doesn't seem to be taught, seems to float around a bit. What normallywears first?

hi
not sure what pressures should be as its a lhd german day van conversion made by westfalia. It would have started life as the german equivalent of a torneo. Its a 2.0 tddi (100ps) manufactured 21.08 2001 its gross is 2880. The pressures were around 50-55 when I bought it 4 years ago so I have maintained it around that, I have michelin agilis van tyres on at the moment. It feels like bushes or shockers to me.

Check the rack holding bolts and bushes
Take it for a pre MOT style inspection and tell them to check it out

hi
thanks for advice. It is due for its 2 year control technique this oct, so will see what they say. They do check each suspension separately so might show up a fault. I have pumped one of my front tyres up from 35 to 55 and things do seem better, it might just have been that.
