what engine is it ,more details of van the better, any noises when van gave up, any previous work, any lights show up,any other symtoms, etc, who said pump had packed up,could be many things ,but i would start with having the codes read if any,and post them on here to get some sort of diagnosis

this is all new to me codes i do not understand it is a 2002 2.4 diesel there has not been any problem with the van in the year and a half i have had it,it just stoped as if some one pulled the plug.the rac man said it is probably a fuel pump problem because when he sprayed easy start into it it started, and when he stopped spraying it it stopped.

did rac plug his laptop into the van,the van stores codes into the engine management system, that can be read by the right software, this then can be used to diagnose the problem,it could well be the fuel pump ,but could also be something else ,take it to a garage that can read the codes for you
