Hi everyone please help i have just bought an ice cream van ford transit poplar 1986 and i have noticed smoke coming out of the breather cap i stupidly stopped it and today i broke down and thee aa noticed a cap on top of my block was cracked all i know is that it leaks diesel slightly (out of the cap that is there is 6 of them with a grey pipe connecting each one)i am a novice as u may of guessed what is the problem and should smoke come out slightly of the breather cap a million thanx jason

A pic would really help of where the diesel is coming from.
likely the diesel leak is what stopped the engine..

hi guys sorry not been on here 4 a while i found out exectly what the problem is . thee aa said i have a cracked diesel injector at the top and said they are not expensive.well i have been qouted 70 pound plus vat for each one can i buy a second hand one please help guys you are the experts thanks alot biscuit

Best to change all 4 otherwise the engine will be all out of kilter. Try a local injection specialist as he might be able to refurbish 3 and find 1 more.
Injectors that are worn or need resetting just cost you diesel so if you just bought it get them sorted and start saving money before you do the miles and gallons. You'll probably save that much in your first year if you use it a lot and if they are passing too much diesel then you'll end up needing new piston rings as the unburnt excess fuel washes all the oil off the cylinders.
