fitting a 2.8 with a 5 speed?

has anyone done the following conversion?, 2.8 with a 5 speed., its going into a standard mk1 with the petrol front,.right now its running a v4.,.,.just looking in the engine bay id say the v6 will go in,.but ive not mesured anything yet,.i dont want the deisel front so if theres room issues id rather cut the firewall & move the whole lot back a few inches,.,.,any one done this combo? what problems was there?, also im interested in power steering.,poss electric conversions., any info would be great.,.,ta.

I have done electric power steering in my mk1 and I have 2,8 and five speed but got the Diesel/v6 front on mine.
