me van,is a 1997 2.5 non-turbo.a couple of weeks ago i fitted a new sump gasket, great no more oil on the drive, tonight i parked up and whilst unloading the van noticed fresh oil on the deck i had a quick look and noticed the the at the front of the sump the gasket was sticking out slighty as if the bolts had been over tightened, which they hadnt by the way.
i started her up to see if oil was leaking when running,no drips appeared until i took the oil filler cap off and the then it started p---ing out, abit of smoke was coming out the when the cap was off,is this normal ?
as soon as i put the cap back on the drips stopped,so i cant work out how the oil leaked in the first place.
is this just a case of un doing the front bolts and trying to push the gasket back in or has something maybe happened to the engine to cause this ie the smoke coming out of the filler cap,ive never noticed the smoke before.
Many thanks.
