Ignition and immobiliser problems.

Postby caveman2212 » Fri Jun 18, 2010 12:20 pm

Hello, I have a 1990 120 diesel ex-british gas van that i use for work, although rusty it still going strong. The only thing wrong is that the two keys we have for it are very worn and only one of them will turn the ignition and start the van. We bought a set of lock from a transit centre and have changed various locks on the van but not the ignition because of the immobiliser. Sometimes i sit there for ages trying to find the "sweet spot" that turns the key. Is there a way of bypassing the immobiliser so the new ignition and key will work???? Please help as I fear one day I will be Stranded in the deep dark corners of england!!!

a 1990 won't have a factory fit immobiliser.

Do your keys have a red bit on the top?

Yeah it s got the red bit in the key fob and it has a red flashing light on dash to the left and below the radio. Not tried a key cut as it was a bit pricey to be honest.
