left direction indicator goes faster when breaking

Postby Samslimmer » Tue Jun 22, 2010 10:12 am

Ford Transit van lwb semi high top 2005 90T 350
When indicating there is nothing wrong but when indicating left and pressing the brake pedal
The break lamps somehow are introduced into the circuit and begin to flash with the left indicator
This causes the flasher unit to flash more quickly

As MrM says, dodgy connection, probably on your brake light circuit earth, it is finding its way out by using the next easiest path which is via your indicators. Electric always takes the path of least resistance, if you have a corroded or loose connection it will go elsewhere.

Thanks MrMpuk
Took off rear lamp covers took out plug there was some debris rust and stuff in the female half as well as some crude reversing warning wiring
Cleaned and re assembled and it all works thanks for your prompt reply and saving me time
Cheers.
