Can a FWD tdci engine fit a rwd transit?

Will it go on the MT75 gearbox ?

After fitting a 113 or 130 2.0 TDCi to a RWD transit mk6

Wont work, mounts are differant, as is sump and waterpump arrangement etc

Why not just a 2.4 135TDci if you want a TDCi RWD

you could do it, only by changing to FWD, you would need FWD hubs, FWD engine bed as it has bracket for bottom engine mount, FWD gearbox, linkages and gearstick, FWD engine bay fuel pipes, full drive shafts, the ENGINE bay loom would be ok if from same age, only Map sensor plug may be different,and engine mounts.

Allthough the 2.0 and 2.4 are based on eaxch other all the little differences make them totally different engines.

Yes, its a bloody good engine in its design environment, but how would it fair pulling 3500kg of loaded Transit Might not be so good then

They are fitted in that environment already, just as FWD.

the zetec mk2 mondeos which were last fitted to, can be got for £50-£100-£150.

glad this sparked some debate...

personal reason is that I have a 90ps 2.4 that does 30 mpg unloaded and loaded. The mondeo 115 can get 60mpg and with 4 adults and luggage weighs as much as the van unloaded. Looking at touring websites people say they can get nearly 40mpg whilst towing a 1.5 tonne caravan. So it seems a more powerful and more fuel efficient engine than the bigger ' 2.4 tdi. Probably weighs less too and costs less also.
