Greetings everyone.
Recently had an MOT on my smiley & it failed on a whole host of stuff, all of which 'apparently' affected the steering and braking and included - "at least £350 quids worth of welding mate".
As I was leaving, the garage owner offered me £100 for it for parts (lucky me).
I've since heard stories about this garage if you know what I mean 'wink wink, nudge nudge'.
As I'm unemployed at the moment (which was the reason for acquiring the van in the first place - literally had to sell my family heirlooms), money is scarce at the moment and the reason for this post is to get peoples' opinions on what a fair price might be and where to take my vehicle to avoid the rip off.
I've just about completed all the work myself but have never really done any welding and have to do all my work on the roadside anyway (no port or garage).
The only thing I've not yet checked visually is the rear brakes because I broke my extended wheel wrench trying to get the nuts off the wheel (the end twisted clean off! - I'm clearly the strongest man in the world).
Anyhow, just wondering if anyone knows of a dependable MOT station East of Bristol that may be able to handle the welding as well (rear cross chassis section, at least two floor strengtheners, rear floor pan, front inner sill crushed - bit of a mess really - it's a Transit).
I'm also trying to complete a mini website on my progress to date (including photographs) and will include pics of the orange stuff.
Bye for now.
Regards from The Gas Pirate.
