MT75 Oil fill allen key size?

Postby sjs205 » Sat Jul 24, 2010 11:31 pm

What size is the allen key for the MT75 oil top up plug and how much oil is needed?

Does it make a difference what type of oil is used? Would 80W-90 cause any problems since I have a load of this and NO money to buy at the moment, so even for a short term, would it hurt until I can afford to replace it?

Thanks in advanced,

Steven

8mm and 1.25L

Do not use EP - it doesn't do these gearboxes any good. Its a little bit like asking if you can put EP90 in to the engine... ;)

I did mine recently using stuff from a red container...now I think it was MT75 oil as I'd bought 5 litres especially two years ago but the label has long since gone. Does smell a little suspect now though but my cabs full of all manner of oil and it was sunny anyway. Hopefully someone can confirm MT75 comes in a red container? Always get confused as the power steering takes auto transmission fluid.

I drained the bottom drain plug and then topped up using a plastic bottle and a clear rubber tube. Made a hole in the plastic bottle top using a heated threaded rod and squeezed the tubing in there so it was tight. You can see how much goes in using the clear litreage markings on the side of the oil container. Boring to fill up but very easy.

I think its the right oil then. Does smell like an old derelict plant site on a sunny afternoon but I like that smell!
