Your dash switch does actually switch to gas and back to petrol.I leave the switch on all the time,so the van starts on petrol and then switches to gas automatically(hopefully)!!

You can switch manually if you need that bit extra...............for blowing away the occasional Splinter after all, the engines are 145 horses.

Good luck with your van.Is it ex Adshel by any chance?

Someone told me to have that switch OFF (on petrol) when starting as it would 'knacker' the engine :? I do obey this when I remember, but it doesn't make sense to me as it HAS to start with petrol anyway, so it must have it's own mechanism for switching to gas when it's ready? Anyone know if that's bunkum?
