van wont start

this will probs sound like a really dumb question but went to start my van today and it almost started then stopped
went to start it again and nothing
the imboliser light is flashing and a ticking sound is coming from behind the dash on the passenger side
it wont start but even the horn n stuff wont work
im thinking that the battery is probs just flat.
am i right?

tried to find the battery but it was getting dark and pissed wit rain so came in for me tea
i cud only find the fuse box and the positive for the battery. the lil diagram cudnt help me find the negative
can anyone show me a pic wit an arrow or something?

What van have you got?

I'm gona assume Mk6 by the fact you said there is a +ve (thats for jump starting), if so then look under your seat for the battery

Any piece of clean metal will do for the -ve.

You are supposed to use the lifting eye for the earth, the battery is under the drivers seat

You try fitting my jump leads through the lifting eye

its all conected together so as I said....any clean metal will do just fine.
