Postby cream2cream » Tue Nov 30, 2010 4:33 am

hello, seems my transit dont wanna blow hot air when fans switched on, just blows out freezin cold air, put a cardboard in front of rad dont make much difference

doesnt overheat whilst stuck in traffic so i know there's not a air block

Heater matrix is blocked, you can try to flush it by taking one of the pipes off and sticking a hose up it, you will need fresh anti-freeze after of course

If that doesnt help then you need a new matrix.

If the two water pipes to the heater are getting hot then it could be the temperature flap in the heater box not moving with the heat control on the dash.
Non-aircon use a cable to control the flap. If the control doesn't seem to be doing anything it may have come disconnected and the flap is stuck on cold setting.

Ive got a similar problem with my mk5.

when I turn the blowers onto 3 (needs a new heater resistor) it blows hot air for about a minute then goes luke warm. If i turn the blowers to 2 (knackered resistor remember  ) hot air comes out when i drive along but not at slower speeds or stopped

checked the water level at the weekend and it was fine

any ideas?

Could be that the bearing in the fan has seized, can you turn the fan with your hand when the engine is off?
